I have wondered for years why the DAR was so careful to keep these submitted records secret. Considering the organization started in 1880 era, they surely have valuable papers that cannot be found elsewhere. Suddenly I learned that a ninety year old member had given her permission to permit DAR to make copies of her ancestor's paper. I think that I paid $30 or so for my share of the expense. We found information about our HARRISON ancestors that none of the current researchers had ever heard of. It gave us a new generation or two. How does one go about knowing what family papers the DAR has? The cost to copy? Who to contact? Gratefully HFisher **************Create a Home Theater Like the Pros. Watch the video on AOL Home.
