But these Ballards didn't seem to marry into my "KIDS" family (the "s' is not plural). The people using the KIDD spelling were a different family not related to William Sidney Kids b. 1834 (buried at Bethel with wife Julia Ann Howard) or his siblings.It seems they were not from England as Sidney's grandfather was. Sidney's children did change their name to KIDD in the 1900s.I think they just got tired of being called Kidd without the "s" and having to correct everybody. I don't know if his brothers' children finally did the same or not. I am beginning to think that the BALLARD connection is with William Tucker's (b. abt.1830) family. His wife Nancy Kids was Sidney Kids' older sister. It could be that the Ballard marriage was in Virginia before the Tuckers moved to Lincoln, Co.
