AL census, Dist. 21: Abernathy, David, 60, b NC. Jane, (wife) 61, b SC, Coleman, (son) 24, b TN. Dist. 21: Abernathy, Joseph T., 28, b TN, Elizabeth, (wife), 26, b AL. {this is my 2GGM, Sarah Elizabeth Mobley}, then it lists the children... NOTE: Both Rev. J.T., and Rev. David N. were affiliated with Andrews Chapel, Hanover, Coosa Co. AL, named for Bishop Andrews, who I believe was a protoge of Daniel Asbury.(?) The only other Abernathy family in that general area , that had M.E. ministers, was the family of Thomas Smith Abernathy; descended from Henry Abernathy (son of John Jr.) and Rebecca (Firth). While I'm sure they were cousins, POB's and DOB's certainly separate them as being any closer than that. Additionally, the only listed child of Joseph b 1749, is his daughter, Betsy, although I think I may have found a son; Millington, listed next to him on 1812 Maury TN Tax List. ALSO: In LINCOLN CO. NC WILLS, there is a will of a Charles Williams, which mentions daughters married to Abernathys, and the later Williams (will) directly beneath that one, lists a son: Millington Williams. (Doing this off the top of my head, but I'm sure of it.) If I can think of anything else which will help, I'll post it. OCF
