    1. Re: Annals of Lincoln Co., NC.(ABERNATHY: need to connect!)
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: ABERNATHY Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/iVB.2ACI/2356.4.1.1.1.2 Message Board Post: Hi Alice, More info: Yes, I've also tracked this David to the 1818 Maury Co., TN Tax List, where he is in HH of David Abernathy and Christina (Forney). He is listed as Jr., next to brothers: Ephraim and Milton P., and David (b. 1752) is listed as a Sr.! Next, he is in 1820 Giles Co., TN census, directly above a Joseph Abernathy. NOTE: They are both in age 26-45 category, and therefore cannot be David and Joseph, the sons of David b. 1726 d. 1814, (as they are b. 1752 and 1749, respectively!!!) Now, the problem is; The family of David and Christina does not list him as a child of theirs, nor is he found anywhere else, other than where I have previously posted. (I have SCOURED all available censuses for the past 3 years!) Additionally, I have obtained the service record of the only David Abernathy in the War of 1812, and he is doubly (and separately) listed therein as both David, and Daniel! His unit fought in the Creek Wars in AL from DEC1813 to FEB 1814, in the very area to which he moved! Lastly; my GG uncle, Reverend David Nathaniel, was also called 'Daniel', for short, and was listed that way in censuses, while still a child. My conclusion: 'My' David MUST be a son of either either David or Joseph, who both moved f! rom Lincoln Co. NC to TN abt, 1811.(?) I will post again with a bit more info... OCF
