Daniel Asbury was a Methodist Minister, and started the still active Rehobeth Methodist Church in Catawba County. It was then Lincoln County. Daniel Asbury started as a Circuit Rider and formed the first Methodist Church west of the Catawba River. He and his wife Nancy Morris Asbury are buried at the above church. He came to this area from Virginia. His Mother was a Jennings before marriage. He did leave a will, probated In July, 1825. He mentions his three daughters Martha Abernethy, Susanna L. Wilkinson, and Letty Cornelius. His daughter Susannah Asbury is my line through her marriage to James Wilkinson, Jr. There is much information on this family at the Lincoln County Library, and Catawba County Library in Newton.
