The name was KIDS, but spelling was so poor and careless back then (such as the census) it was sometimes spelled Kidds or people just wrote it as Kidd, like another local family who was unrelated. The generation after my G. grandfather just changed it to Kidd in 1920s because that's what people kept calling them in other counties where they moved. Of course, I'm looking for those before my G. grandfather.His grandfather came from England about LATE 1700s. It appears that the Ballards my grandparents spoke of must be tied in a different way.
