Agnes, John Murphy was born in North Carolina in 1766. I'm not sure of course, but I'd say it was near or in Tyrone or Lincoln Co. He married Hannah McNamare in Lincoln Co. 10/6/1786. I am also not certain of this - just a genealogical hunch, but I do feel John's family was one of Owen Murphy's sons - either James or William. Owen Murphy's Will is dated December 1775, and his wife Abigail signed executor with her son James in January 1776. I am wondering if Abigail returned to her old country after Owen's death. Just a thought. In Owen's Will, he mentions a grandson John. My John Murphy Sr. was a Methodist Minister, and his son John Jr. from his first marriage to Hannah, was a Baptist Minister. My John Murphy Sr. and Hannah McNamare Murphy moved into Kentucky, then at some point were in Indiana, then back to Eastern Kentucky. After Hannah's death, John married Lucy Hughes, a much younger woman. I descend from John's marriage to Lucy Hughes. Lucy was born in McMinn Co., TN.
