John B. Davis, his wife Malinda, and their three daughters Frances, Barbara, and Esther are buried at Pleasant Grove Methodist. Michael Huffstetler Davis, son of John B. and Malinda, is buried at Laboratory Methodist cemetery. Also buried at Laboratory Meth. is Mary E. Davis, died Feb. 3, 1857 age 9 years. There is a will of Joseph Homesley dated 1800. The abstract lists John R. , Mary Polly and Beryl [Burrell, Burel] Homesley. I believe that Joseph died in 1799. I am related to Mary Polly and would like to see a copy of the will or at least know what it said to help in my research. Can someone make a copy and e-mail or mail it to me? I live in Ohio. Would appreciate any assistance. Jayne jaynema@earthlink.net

Marcia, In this part of your message: "In 1795 William Washington's brother Nicholas sells land in Lincoln Co, NC. Witnesses were "Anne and Forney Green Norman." I believe that his may be the Nicholas Welch who married Margaret "Peggy" Hembree, daughter of David Hembree and lived in Pendleton Dist, SC. Peggy is dead by 1810 and most of their children end up in Lawrence Co, TN near William Welch and his wife Elizabeth Jane Hembree. Nic and Peggy's daughter Hettie / Hetty married William's son Thomas." Would you happen to know who Anne and Forney Green Norman were? My ancestor, Isaac Green, died in 1772 in SC and named his children: sons:Robert, George, John and Moses Green daughters: Alse Lansdale, Sarah Anne Norman, and Priscilla Ross Priscilla Ross is my direct line and some of her children went to Lincoln Co, NC but I have been trying to track her sisters, Alse and Sarah Anne, without a lot of luck. Robert and Marcia: These surnames appear in Cape Girardeau Co., MO right after 1800-1820 or so. One of the Welches and Levi Norman married into the Peter Crites (son of Davault) family. I think there is a Hembree Chapel Church in Cape Co., too. That's a name I haven't researched! If you log onto the Stoddard Co. MO Gen. Society and the Stoddard Co. rootsweb message boards page you will find several people there working on these families. Also the Sifford family. There is also a Sifford website too. Goodspeeds SE MO History could help too. I could have helped before my computer crashed, taking all my drives, but lost all of my email addresses. Was building it back when the motherboard went out and lost what I had recovered. Just got it back last week end and haven't had time to do anything about it again. I'm glad to see 2007 go. It hasn't been a good year for me and my family. Surely 2008 will be better! At the moment everyone is on their feet for which we're grateful. Hope Everyone has had a Blessed Christmas and will have a great and prosperous New Year. Robert Carpenter wrote: > Marcia, > > Concerning Nicholas Welch and family, was this Welch family Quaker? Marcia, Concerning Nicholas Welch and family, was this Welch family Quaker? Do you know their religion? Was Nicholas Welch, the Tory, an exception or were other Welches Tories as well? I am researching later German settlers west of the Catawba River in present Lincoln County, NC and find that Nicholas Welch sold to many Dunkers, Church of the Brethren. I have often wondered if he held some of their religious views. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you for the response. Nicholas Welsh was part of a very early Welsh family which lived in Indian Creek and in various other areas of Lincoln County, NC. Dear listers, Is anyone researching the Welsh family? I assume that they were English or Scots Irish. Were they Quaker? Nicholas Welsh had property confiscated during the American Revolution because he was a Tory. I am not related but would like to prove the family's European origin and their religion. Thanks, Robert Carpenter

Robert The Monroe Co TN Clemmers were Lutheran. We have not, definately, proven that these Young's are connected to the Clemmers before their arrival in Monroe. Most have John David Young connected to Peter Young in North Carolina but having done a few hours research on the families I'm not very sure of this. We have here in McMinn a very interesting lineage of Youngs from Jefferson County. These Young's are involved with the Whites. A descendent, Ewing Young, was a fabled character in Taos New Mexico and a very early settler/trader in Oregon (very early 1800's) There has been a book written about him. It is possible that John David Young was in this same line. I did not get to complete this research. Hal, I am not descended from either of these families. I have done considerable research on early German families. I live about 2 or 3 miles from the old Clemmer Graveyard on White and Jenkins Road. I had relied upon OUR KIN by L. M. Hoffman as the best source for these families. As with many older genealogies, Hoffman did not have access to all the records and tended to simplify families based upon oral tradition without proving through documentation. Other researchers, maybe you, have since proven that Valentine Clemmer did not come to Gaston County but died, I think, in York Co., PA. (I do not have my notes with me) His wife took another husband in Rowan County. Their connection with the Duttero family served as a vehicle for both families to come to NC. Is this correct? It is what I have read. Were your Clemmers Dunker? Church of the Brethren? How about the Dutteros? I have also been reseraching this most interesting group of settlers. Many Brethren (Dunkers) came to NC after the American Revolution. Where did your Yung family settle? I was aware that a number of Clemmers moved to Tennessee. The area of Blount and Monroe Counties in Tennessee are full of old Lincoln County, NC families. I hope this gives you my perspective. Let me hear from you soon. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: JudithParkerProctor Surnames: Huss Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.northcarolina.counties.lincoln/4008.2.1.1.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Please folks, let's get back to the original question - littletarbie is looking for family of Mr. Ronald Huss. I assume since he/she is posting to Lincoln County, NC, that he/she believes Mr. Huss was originally from the area. littletarbie - since you know quite about the murder, please give us the approximate age of the victim. Do you know if he had a middle name? Was he indeed from Lincoln County, NC, or one of our surrounding areas? We genealogists are always willing to help, but every little scrap of knowledge about the person's family or background can be of great value. For instance, I did a quick search of the Newspaper Archives and came up with another Ronald Huss who was killed in 1973 in NC. A quick search of the birth index comes up with several of them born in Lincoln County, so more information is in order. It would appear you may have it. littletarbie please understand also that any information you would receive on Ronald Huss' family will probably be thru direct contact as they are living individuals & we don't like to post personal info for the world to see. I too lost a cousin to murder a few years ago and know the helplessness of watching these events take place in the courts. My heartfelt condolences to you and your family. I wish you luck in your journey. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
