Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/iVB.2ACI/2351.2 Message Board Post: Isaac Hinkle (5 dec 1814-15 jul 1862) was the son of William Hinkle and Jane White of Lincoln County, NC. He was a wagonmaker, and died during the Civil War. William P. Connell, who witnessed their wedding, was the husband of Susan Hinkle, Isaac's sister. William's father was Jacob Hinkle. The Hinkles were briefly in York/Chester Counties in SC before coming to Lincoln County. The line before Jacob is not well documented, but Jacob is believed to be a descendent of Rev. Anthony Jacob Henckel. Jane White's father was Hugh White (1737- 13 May 1801), born in Pennsylvania and lived in Chester Co, SC. I have the children of Isaac listed as Jane, Amanda E., Sarah, Melinda, Mary A., William Freeman, and Rachel Isabella. Rachel Isabella married Esley Offit Johnson. The two of them are buried at Paw Creek Presbyterian, where William Freeman and his wife Lizzie are also buried. Isaac's siblings were Lewis, Sarah Elizabeth, Christina, Malinda, Jacob, James Madison, Susan, Cyrus, and Winifred. I am a descendent of Cyrus Hinkle, through his son Sidney who lived near Lowesville, NC. Ashley

I seen a break down of the 1790 census where there was a breakdown of national descent she listed herself as of English descent(England,Scotland). My curosity is sparked about this Cherokee blood. I know her husband Thomas was part of military actions against the Cherokee`s in the early 1770`s. I would like to know the info about the Cherokee line if anyone knows

    3. Katy: The will of Johann Carl/Charles Ward gives the following: Probated in Lincoln Co., NC 1787: Wife Catherine, Oldest son Frederick, sons Melcher and Balser, daughter Mary's three children (Sally, James and Catherine), sons, William , George, Conrad and Charles all under 21. Exr. son Frederick and "my brother" Balser Kale. These families were from Northampton Co., PA. You will find much on them in the three volume set of PA German Church Records and later publications of PA county birth records located in most large genealogy collections. Somewhere in those books I think you will find that Catherine was a sister to Balser Kale. Carl in German is Charles in English, hence the name change. You should take a look at my book "German Speaking People West Of The Catawba River In NC 1750-1800" too it probably will be a help to you. You might find it in a library near you. This book has recently been reprinted. There is also some Ward information in "The Shoe Cobbler's Kin, a genealogy of The Peter Eaker, Sr. Family. in the Snider Family Records. Frederick Ward was first married to my 4thgrgrandfather's sister, Catherine Snider about 1790. They only lived together a short time and had no children. By 1800 Catherine ran off to MO with Daniel Hubble and Frederick was unable to obtain a divorce to marry the mother of his several children until about 1835. He then went to court and had his several children legitimized. Lots of interesting stuff in the divorce records and court minutes in Raleigh. In 1820 Daniel Hubble was hauled into court on an adultry charge in Cape Girardeau Co., MO and wrong charge (should have been fornication) and it was thrown out of court. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Katy Hott" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, July 10, 2004 12:04 AM Subject: Re: [NCLINCOLN] Jeremaih Abernathy and Rue Ward family Mary, I have some information on this line. 3. Rebecca, I have a James Abernathy, who was married to Elizabeth Deal, September 1837 in Davidson County, TN (Elizabeth, was born in 1819, probably in Sumner County, TN, the daughter of Henry Deal) I have been unable to trace James either back nor forward. Nor find any information on either of them after 1837. I did find on the 1850 Davidson County Census a 12 year old Elizabeth Abernathy, living in the household with Henry(age 71) and Mary(age 63)Deal. The Deals were originally from North Carolina. This leads me to believe that 12 year old Elizabeth Abernathy is the child of James Abernathy and Elizabeth Deal Abernathy, living with her grandparents. What happened to James and Elizabeth Abernathy? Will appreciate any help. Edwina
