Searching for any information on Saloma (Sally) Malinda Miller who married Daniel Paul Rinck in Lincoln Co. N.C. Sally was the daughter of Jacob Miller and Sarah Catherine Yount. Sallys sister Anna Emeline Miller, married my ggrandfather Andrew Rinck. Three of the brothers went off to the civil War. I know Daniel did return, Both Henry and Andrew were killed in the war. I have been unable to find if they had any children and if so who they are. Also do not know where either of them are buried? If you can help with this line I would appreciate it.

You do have a problem! However it may not be insolvable. If you will tell me where you live, I might be able to refer you to a library near you that has the book "German Speaking People West Of The Catawba River IN NC 1750-1800" You may be descended from Peter Rhodes who was a RW veteran of Lincoln Co.and lived in Buncombe Co. then moved to Cape Girardeau Co., MO and then returned to Buncombe Co. He was residing in Henderson Co. where he applied for a RW pension on 24 July 1840. I do not have a full list of his children though there seems to have been a daughter Hannah and a son, Peter, JR. at least. He was a part of the family in Lincoln Co., NC, but just how is not yet known. You need to see the discussion in the book mentioned above. It has been reprinted and again available for purchase. Surnames: ABERNATHY, FORNEY Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/iVB.2ACI/2356.4.1.1.1.3.3 Message Board Post: Alice, I just received an email from another descendant of Rev. Jos. T. Abernathy and his son, Rev. David N. The name:TURNER appears in his (Abernathy) family chart,(as a middle name) as well as the given name: DRUCILLA, spelled in his line as"Drewsilla"! This fact, coupled with the 1820 Giles TN census,1818 Maury TN tax list, Shelby and Macon AL censuses, and War of 1812 service record, (all hard copy) has really led me to conclude that my 3GGF, David Abernathy b. 1790 NC, is (at least) the circumstantially proven son of David and Christine Abernathy. Also, my exhaustive attempt(s) to link him to Joseph Abernathy have come up ZERO! Now; this raises the question of the identity of the young Joseph Abernathy, also in the 26-45 yrs category, who is next to "my" David in the 1820 Giles Co. TN census: Is he son of Joseph b. 1749, or yet another son of David and Christine? They are also right next to the Tinnons, Johnstons, Millers and Bynums, and I find this very intriguing! Lastly, I have found several errors in the booklet: "The Abernathys", by Mabel McClure. I won't bore you with presenting it all here, but the two most obvious to me are:(1) She has Robert Gilmore Abernathy in the wrong generation. (2) She tries somehow to connect David Turner Abernathy to a William Abernathy, of Connecticut. (I will not comment any further on the latter, (#2) other than I find it incomprehensible. Well, enough out of me! What do you think? I would like very much to connect with other Abernathy descendants, as I don't have the resources to research much further, and to finally and substantially prove my assertion(s). I would also like to find some more "kinfolk" out there... Otis Fuller

Repeat of prior posting. I have a James Abernathy, who married to Elizabeth Deal, September 1837 in Davidson County, TN (Elizabeth, was born in 1819, probably in Sumner County, TN, the daughter of Henry Deal) I have been unable to trace James either back nor forward. Nor find any information on either of them after their marriage bond an d license in 1837. I did find on the 1850 Davidson County Census a 12 year old Elizabeth Abernathy, living in the household with Henry {age 71) and Mary (age 63) Deal. The Deals were originally from North Carolina. This leads me to believe that 12 year old Elizabeth Abernathy is the child of James Abernathy and Elizabeth Deal Abernathy, living with her grandparents. What happened to James and Elizabeth Abernathy I did find a David Abernathy in the Records of Davidson County Court Minute Book B Oct. 19, 1835 Sept. 7, 1841 http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Plains/3661/ Friends of Metropolitan Archives of Nashville and Davidson County Will appreciate any help. Co. Wills: (my excerpts) #1268. Charles Williams, 25 March 1802, January 1803. Daughter Ann Abernathy, Exec: Joseph Abernathy, David Williams. #1269 Charles Williams, (must be son) 6 February 1833, April 1857. son Millington. To me, this jibes with the 1812 Maury TN tax list, which contains a Joseph and Millington Abernathy, and the name of Millington being so rare... I would love to find more info on Joseph: Any ideas?
