    3. Will some some of the rest of you get into this discussion? I do have a bare touch of Murphy information but nothing that is helpful to this problem. I should mention here that I do not live in Lincoln county, indeed I do not even live in NC. I have lived in NC only briefly. None of my ancestors come from there or ever lived there. My collection of information about the area derives from my research on my husbands family, who all were from NC and who spent their entire lives there. Many of the families in and around the Lincoln, Catawba, Rowan, Iredell area are intertwined so I have covered or touched on a lot of them. Almost anyone who does research in this Piedmont area of NC has had the same experience. Indeed, anyone who has researched families anywhere and found them imbedded for generations has the same experience. Agnes C. 2. Agnes, John Murphy was born in North Carolina in 1766. I'm not sure of course, but I'd say it was near or in Tyrone or Lincoln Co. He married Hannah McNamare in Lincoln Co. 10/6/1786. I am also not certain of this - just a genealogical hunch, but I do feel John's family was one of Owen Murphy's sons - either James or William. Owen Murphy's Will is dated December 1775, and his wife Abigail signed executor with her son James in January 1776. I am wondering if Abigail returned to her old country after Owen's death. Just a thought. In Owen's Will, he mentions a grandson John. My John Murphy Sr. was a Methodist Minister, and his son John Jr. from his first marriage to Hannah, was a Baptist Minister. My John Murphy Sr. and Hannah McNamare Murphy moved into Kentucky, then at some point were in Indiana, then back to Eastern Kentucky. After Hannah's death, John married Lucy Hughes, a much younger woman. I descend from John's marriage to Lucy Hughes. Lucy was born in McMinn Co., TN. I plan to come to Lincoln County sometime this summer, the good Lord willing. Crystal Murphy Kentucky

    3. Hello listers, I am searching for information on Abel ROMINES who migrated from Virginia to Lincoln County and married, had three kids, wife died there, and then he died there. Two of the kids were bound out to two GLADDEN brothers, Moses and Joseph and Sally was bound to Jenny HAMILTON. I would like to know who Abel married and a date if possible. It would also be nice to know where they are buried. His wife died before he did and I presume they are buried in the same place. 1. Marcus Lawrence HEAVNER's Children?
    2. Ray H. Smith
    3. Would appreciate any help on this family from Lincoln Co., NC. Anna HEAVNER is the oldest child born 1867. Did she marry and if so who? Her death date? Willie HEAVNER is the second child born 1869. Did she marry and if so who? Is her death date known? Charles P. (what does the P. stand for) HEAVNER I know his spouse and their dates and where they are buried. Effie HEAVNER b. January 19, 1873 Lincoln Co., NC d. March 18, 1955 in Lincoln Co. She married Charles Henry RHODES who was sheriff of Lincoln County at one time. Tullie Mae HEAVNER is my maternal grandmother so I have her information. Martha Florence "Mattie" HEAVNER b December 23, 1878 in Lincoln Co., NC. She married Milton Rudisill and lived outside of Crouse. I do not their death dates nor burial place. One of their daughters married a "brick" KENDRICK and during the RUDISILL's latter years the daughter moved her parents to Monroe, NC I think. Etta HEAVNER b June 22, 1881;d. November 16, 1937. Etta married Solomon WARLICK. Lawrence F. (what does the F stand for) HEAVNER b. abt. 1885. According to the 1920 Census of Lincoln Co., NC his wife's given name was May (what was her maiden name) and they had a daughter named Charlotte. His occupation was County jailer. I have no specific dates for this couple. Willie HEAVNER is the last child b. abt. 1887. I have no further information about her at this time. This "Willie" contrast with the second daughter Willie! Did the second daughter Willie die in infancy. Six of these people I have known a persons during their lifetime; but not knowing married names for the three daughters if they married makes it almost in=impossible to look for them in cemeteries or death registers. WOULD LOVE TO HAVE SOMEONE HELP ME IN THIS MATTER. Ray

    3. Yes indeed - there are a lot of them, perhaps you could narrow it down a little, since the index shows 25 entries under grooms and 22 more under brides. 2. Agnes
    3. To some degree the answer to your question could be dependant upon the dates involved. The census of course will show the names of the children who lived long enough to make it into those records. Not all births were recorded in the early years, most of that will have to come from church records, and sometimes it is difficult to determine what one folks attended. If you can come up with some dates, and a few more details someone will be able to help. There has been some research done on the Murphy family and the McNamara name is also familiar Agnes On 2/20/05 11:00 PM, "[email protected]" <[email protected]> wrote: > From: <[email protected]> > Date: Sun, 20 Feb 2005 12:43:57 EST > To: <[email protected]> > Subject: Re: [NCLINCOLN] Early marriages - Agnes > > Agnes, > > I have a copy of my great-great grandfather John Murphy's marriage to his > first wife, Hannah McNamare(a).
