"Spec" Spence KINSTON, N.C. - Mary Lewis Rochelle "Spec" Spence of 900 West Road, died Monday, February 14, 2005, at Lenoir Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Spence was a Retired Secretary and the wife of the late Marvin Bruce Spence and daughter of the late James Marvin Rochelle and Clell Lamm Rochelle of Kinston. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed golf and tennis for many years. A private service will be held at a later date. She is survived by a son, William D. Spence of Kinston, N.C.; a daughter, Sloan Spence Mason of Fayetteville, Georgia; seven grandchildren, Lisa S. Glenn and Amy S. Johnson, both of Wilmington, N.C., Julie S. McKnight of Cary, N.C., Will R. Spence of Newport, N.C., Tracey Spence of Kinston, Shelly Sloan Mason and Michael C. Mason, both of Fayetteville, Georgia; two great-great-grandchildren, Molly Johnson and Jacob Glenn, both of Wilmington, N.C. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 16, 2005, at Edwards Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, 2110 N. Queen St., Kinston, NC 28501.
