Mariah Bryant Midwife One fun birth: I don't know if this is any connection but maybe the Rudolph-- Miracle Joy Harris daughter of Jerry Rudolph Harris and Carolyn Yvonne Dawson born 8-14-1988 Death certificate: Charles Mack Harris age 41 son of Mack Harris of Pitt county and Agnes Philips or Lenoir informant: Saul Harris burial at Cedar Grove (and you are not going to believe this but I forgot to put down the date!) I did not find a death certificate for Mack Harris or Agnes or Carrie(y) I did not find a marriage certificate for Carrie Adams-Patrick-McDonald-Harris and Mack Harris This was my first visit to the Lenoir county register of deeds office. They have a nice set up with a large comfortable room and a table to sit and work at. I will not say that I was particularly thorough because I was in a rush to get my kids to PE. What I did was look on the census to try to get as much info as I could, I think the 1900 census said he had been married in 1889/90 so I concentrated on finding a Harris in that time frame. The black and whites had different indexes for marriages. And as luck would have it there was both a black and white Mack Harris--the white one I believe was McDaniel Harris and shortened his name to Mack or M D Harris-so I have a bit of info on his family too! Both Mack's were about the same age too! I looked through the death certificate index for the 1914-1940's, those too are separated by color and when I was at the register of deeds I still didn't know which one was right because I didn't have enough info with me so I am pretty sure that he does not appear in either index. Then I took a birth certificate book down for the H's and started looking for anyone listed that was a child of Mack Harris, and found some additional info. I list this only so you will know that what I did was sporadic, and definitely not thorough. I did this all in less than one hour, so I may have missed many documents. There may be much more information there to find but I didn't have all the information with me as to who exactly, I was looking for, besides Mack and even he I had doubts about! Incidentally, I did not find him (Mack) on 1910 census through Heritage Quest-I have found some of my relatives that I have found using Ancestry.com or other indexes are not listed on Heritage Quest. I love that Heritage Quest is free or very low cost but the index is not on par with others I have used. I don't like the way that you can only find people with the exact spelling either. Well, I had a good time and learned where to go here in Kinston for records. I hope this information helps you. You can get uncertified copies from the register of deeds for $1.00 a copy (in Jones county they are only 25 cents!)
