James took the last name of McCarter...don't know about Joseph. Priscilla's husband was Elicia (Elisha) who was listed in the Hookerton area of Greene County in the 1870 census but ? died prior to 1880. He was listed as Carter in each census but one where he was Mcarther. James (J. S.) McCarter died in Wayne County in 1928...married Harriet (Hattie) Gay. James & Joseph had older sister listed as Mary A. Carter who would have been 20 years old in 1880.
