    3. Turner Reavis was born in Wake or Johnston County, NC in 1812. He married Sarah Catherine Gatlin (1814-1838) in 1835 in Kinston. She was daughter of John and Susannah Caswell Gatlin and a grandaughter of Gov. Richard Caswell. They had one child, a daughter named Susan Gatlin Reavis born 22 Mar 1838. After his wife's death in 1838, Turner Reavis apparently moved to Virginia and married Mary Strachan Barret of Dewberry, Virginia. At some point in time, I believe just after the Civil War, Turner Reavis and family moved to Gainesville, Sumter Co, AL where he practiced law and became a judge. Turner Reavis' daughter, Susan Gatlin Reavis (1838-?), married Charley Cooke, a lawyer, in Dewberry, VA. They too moved to Sumter Co, AL around 1866. Charley and Susan had the following children: 1) Mary Gatlin Cooke (b. 1860, VA) who married Huling Parker Robertson in Sumter Co, AL, son of Texas Empresario E.S.C. Robertson; 2) John F. Cooke (b.1862, VA); 3) Susan R. Cooke (b.1864, VA); and Elizabeth Cooke (b.1867, AL). This birth information is from the 1870 Sumter Co, AL census. Jim Gaddis
