I am not sure how this is working but we have a problem and it is going around the various lists. ROOTSWeb stops any attachments so it is impossible to spread a virus or worm through the lists; however, something is going in through the backdoor. PLEASE keep in mind that a virus/worm is no ones fault and no one spreads it around knowingly. I intend to use names - one with permission, the other without because you need to be warned. What appears to be happening is (don't worry - I deleted these off my pc without opening) I/you send a post to the list - a list member responds almost immediately with a botched "reply" with an attachment. I got two yesterday from Jewel - one with the attachment entitled C:\ATTACHMENTS\YOU_are_FAT!.TXT.pif" the other C:\ATTACHMENTS\docs.scr" Someone on the PCFR list warned us Jewel's pc was sending out a virus/worm so I deleted them without opening. TOday, right after Rose sent out a post and I replied, I received a "reply" from Pat with an attachment entitled C:\ATTACHMENTS\Humor.TXT.pif" I immediately emailed her and asked if she sent this and just received a 3rd party anwer - NO and she has a virus/worm. DO NOT OPEN ANY ATTACHMENT SENT AS A REPLY FROM ANYONE ON THE LIST!!!!!!! Whatever this is, it appears to be changing names as it goes around and I don't know whether it is a virus or a worm. The warning of NEVER OPEN AN ATTACHMENT unless you are expecting it or double check with the sender before opening applies at all times but especially now. Please, if you receive a strange "reply" with an attachment, notify the person to check their pc and maybe for the time being you need to notify the lists of whose pc is sending them out. That is for the protection of all of us. Sorry about that but it happens. Martha
