February 1847; d. May 08. Notes for JOSHUA M. BYRD: Oituary Raleigh Man Dies of Paralysis Stroke Mr. J. M. Byrd died yesterday after noon at 3 o'clock following a stroke of paralysis, at his home on 604 S. Person Street. He was stricken Wednesday after noon and never rallied. Mr. Byrd was in his sixty-seventh year. Besides his wife, his companion for 52 years, he is survived by one son, Mr. T.M. Byrd of this city, and three daughter, Mrs. Roy Creel, also of this city; Mrs. James Hazzard, of Kinston and Mrs. S.W. Scarboro of Fayetteville. All except Mrs Hazzard were with him when the end came. Mr. Byrd was born and raised in Lenoir County, but had made his home in Raleigh for ten years. He had made many friends here. The remains will be taken this morning to Kinston, where the interment will take place. Notes for MARGARET "MAGGIE" PHILLIPS: Obituary Mrs. Maggie Byrd Dies at Age of Seventy two Mrs Maggie Byrd, widow of the late Joshua M. Byrd, died Tuesday Night, May 8 at the home of her daughter, Mrs Roy E. Creel. The remains were taken to Kinston for interment. Mrs Byrd is survived by one son, T.M. Byrd of Raleigh, Mrs Roy E. Creel, also of Raleigh, Mrs James Hazard, of Kinston, Mrs S.W. Scarboro of Fayetteville and by fifteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Mrs Byrd was seventy-two years of age and had been in feeble health practically ever since the death of her husband, which occurred just four years and five days before her own death; though her condition had been critical only about ten days. Mrs Byrd had been a member of the Methodist Church of Kinston. Funeral services will be held at Maplewood Cemetery x. SUSAN BYRD, b. Abt. 1844; m. JOHN W.
