    1. [NCLENOIR] Flooding in DC

    3. I gather at least one network finally carried the story regarding the massive flooding here LAST Sat. and I have had a number of queries. We lucked up probably with 15 minutes to spare. We prayed over the drains and the buckets of rain slowed with about one foot before the water crossed the street in front of the house. When the water meets, we are in trouble. My pc and all my genealogical records are in the basement. Several of my friends were not so lucky and we were across town at a friends home (they were out of town) at midnight with the alarm going off because the over 3 feet of water in the basement well had imploded the basement door and a foot of water entered their basement. They were lucky - no raw sewage. This is the first time the District has ever been named a Federal Disaster area and it is a mess both in the poor and affluent neighborhoods. Let's say people are learning about their lack of insurance both with their household insurance and FEMA just like in eastern NC during Floyd. Up to $50,000 in damage is not easy to handle even with the most affluent families. Martha
