    1. [NCLENOIR] List members in the news!
    2. Martha Marble
    3. There are two articles in today's Free Press - http://www.kinston.com/ - both by Steve Martini under local news - regarding our list members. The first is on list member Jim and his wife Sue and their restoration of damaged old tombstones in the area. Given the condition of many of the old cemeteries in the area, they should have enough business to last a couple of life times. Jim and I went cemetery hopping a couple of years ago in some of the old Phillips cemeteries. Almost cried at one of them with the destruction that had been done since the first time I visited that cemetery a number of years ago. Jim, still want you to see if there are any other "buried" stones at the Stephen Carr Phillips cemetery - the one up in the woods. The other article is on the vote tomorrow night and Jane and Pat's new Committee. The vote count now looks promising but nothing is a sure bet. If the zoning application is denied, the real work will then start to get the site designated in some way as an official Civil War Battlefield. There was a brief mention of the destruction of Civil War Battlefields today in the Parade Section. They are being lost at an alarming rate. ANy assistance any of you can give to them would be appreciated. List member, Kay, has gotten the UDC interested and they may have some members attend the meeting tomorrow night. Not sure there is a chapter in Kinston anymore but maybe the UDC can give some assistance from the State and National level. Jane, please advise us of the vote ASAP tomorrow night. Martha
