    3. UFT is not going to do you any good since it is not being supported. If The Master Genealogist can be used on a mac, that might be the way to go. It is a complicated program but you really don't need to learn how to use much of it. I assume that FTM saves to a disk in a sqz file. Any GEDCOM loses information even going between two identical programs. TMG is able to import a sqz file from any softwear and loses nothing. Then it can be uploaded to the web. Only problem is the sqz file is the entire database and you probably don't want someone's entire database. I guess you can upload what you want and delete the database but I sure don't know how to do that. In other words, I could save my database to a zip disk, it would go right on your TMG, and then you could upload what we want posted. You could do the same with PAF, FTM and any softwear and no one has to know how to do a GEDCOM and nothing would be lost. Everyone backs up their database. Might be worth looking into. 3. Unfortunately, UFT is PC only too. I love the Mac for the web page design, and creativityl, but it sure can hinder me in genealogy. The LDS have just come out with another good buy, PC only. THE VITAL RECORDS INDEX FOR SCANDINAVIA on CD-ROM contains 4.5 million records extracted from Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden. Some of the church records date from the late 1500s to 1905. It also contains 3.5 million birth and christening records and 1 million marriage records. The set of seven discs (plus one viewer disk) is only 16 dollars and 50 cents (shipping and handling included) You can order it from the Distribution Center on the internet at www.familysearch.org or by calling 800-537-5971 and ask ing for item number 50108. FYI for those of us who are enjoying the new Ellis Island data base, it was LDS voulunteers who abstracted the passenger lists and helped make that site possible. For those of you, like me, who are Mac users. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day-Saints Family History Centers have PCs and the additional software available to use on site. Depending on the time of day, it can be hard to get a computer though. Familysearch.org would have the address of the FHC closest to you. They are open to the public. I will be updating Old Dobbers with all these new links, like Ellis Island, that have become available since my last major overhaul.
