This is a flagrant advertisement.For those of you who visit Greene or Lenoir Co doing research and are there on a Saturday - you must go to Mr Willie's barbeque "shack". Best barbeque you have ever eaten but you had better be there by 11:30 am if you intend to eat. Mr. Willie Morris died a few years ago and his grandchildren took it over and thinking they knew better than grandpa, changed the sauce. They should not have messed with grandpa's sauce and according to Carolyn, have now seen the light. Pork barbeque is, of course, part of our heritage and it just has to be cooked over real hickory wood not gas. Willie's is just south of Hookerton on the back road into Lenoir Co. If you are there at l1:30, you can't miss it for all the cars parked out front on this roadside shack and believe me it is a shack. They only serve on Sat. and the menu is barbeque, slaw, hush puppies and a small selection of soft drinks. It has been almost a year without fresh barbeque and I am in withdrawal!
