    1. [NCLENOIR] 1790 Orange Co., Va. Census & Taylors

    3. Christine, your observation re the surnames found in Orange and the old Dobbs area puts you in good company. Ima and Aileen Mewborn made that observation 25 years ago when they discovered some of the Fields family of Culpepper County (formed from Orange) bought property in Onslow and maybe in Dobbs. They said the old street names that are surnames in both Madison and Culpepper were identical to Farmville yet they could find no connections other than the Fields family in Onslow. It has always been written that at least my Taylor family started with Richard Taylor who married Catherine Davis and Richard was out of Orange Co, Va. The Taylor family of Orange Co is considered a FFVA with a pedigree a mile long but it is certainly not connected with the Lenoir Taylors. The Orange Co family was written up in the Smithsonian Mag many years ago. Not to mention that most of us think William was the one who married Catherine Davis, or did think that until this past week.
