The Historical Preservation Group grew out of a desire to preserve our heritage. As so many causes are born, it took the threat of extinction of portions of Civil War Battlefields to stir the public consciousness. Thus the Historical Preservation Group came into being. The group is comprised of individuals working in partnership to developed and promote the multi-dimensional aspects regarding historical preservation. Our first goal is to obtain and develop properties of the Civil War's First Battle of Kinston and the Wyse Fork Battlefields located in Lenoir County.
