It gives his parents as Thomas and Cassandra Wetherington Abbott. Richard had two wives, Abseley Eleanor Abbott and Lucinda Abbott. The Bible states that Abseley was his first cousin daughter of of Samuel and Mary Sheppard Abbott. Lucinda was the daughter of Thomas Jefferson and Lucinda Phillips Abbott. The Thomas Jefferson Abbott Bible is also in the Bible Books - his father was Samuel and Mary Peabody Abbott. I don't know what all these relationship were because this is not my line, but have some of it on my database because of allied marriages. Hope I have told you right on this. Would you be willing to post the old letters you have on Lenoir County Archives. They might be helpful to someone. I did not have any of Richard Montgomery's siblings. Martha
