Hardy, Jesse married Elizabeth Jane Hines, daughter of Daniel and Rebecca Hines, Jesse and Elizabeth Hardy were the parents of Rebecca Anne Hardy Barfield, In 1851, Jesse Hardy died and his widow, Elizabeth Jane Hardy, would later marry Lewis Outlaw and they became the parents of 9 children. Rebecca was 5 years old when her father died. Rebecca is buried in the Hines cemetery in Lenoir County.
