"Commissioners preserve county's history" are the headlines this morning in the Kinston Free Press and lead news story on Greenville TV news. Yesterday marked a milestone for the Historical Preservation Group as well as Lenoir County. The commissioners room at the courthouse was full with "Save the Battlefields" supporters. BJ Murphy made a very impressive PowerPoint presentation asking that the county place an historical easement on the Rivermount and Meadowbrook FEMA areas which was a major portion of the Kinston Battlefield. The commissioners all agreed to work with the HPG to come up with a plan for the battlefield. There is a lot of hard work to make the battlefields a reality. We need all the help we can get.
