According to a gggranddaughter of Col. William H. Ball he was born in Fairfax County Virginia in 1818. He moved to Ohio in 1845. He became an attorney and was admitted to the bar in 1847. He married Carolina Wilson Stuart (Stewart) in 1851. Children were Elizabeth, Edward and Sallie. Appointed colonel of the 122nd Ohio Infantry and served with his regiment until he resigned in 1865. He became a judge and his portrait hangs in the courthouse in Zanesville, Ohio. GGGD has pictures, letters, sword, medals and walking stick that belonged to Col. Ball. She states she has never seen anything on his military history that states the 122nd Ohio was in North Carolina. Who is the Col. William H. Ball of the 122 Ohio Inf. that is buried in Maplewood Cemetery in Kinston? We have a mystery!!! Jane Phillips God Bless America!
Does anyone have any info on Maplewood Cemetery in Kinston? My husband's father and grandfather (and maybe other ancestors) are buried there. Looking for the "Mabe" family ancestors.
