    3. Sue, I just recently received some information that might point you in the right direction but it may be spotty and not sure if you can put it together. Gloria posted the will of John Nelson on Lenoir Co Archives last week. It mentions his plantation in the Neck and it also mentions his Grubbs grandchildren (my interest). The name of that plantation was the Clark King plantation. Somewhere in the back of my mind I sort of remember posting a will for a King who had a lot of land in the Neck and I had never heard of him. Maybe Clark King instead of being the name of a person was two surnames indicating the two past owners. Don't know you live exactly or where any of this land was but my g grandfather must have lived on the Sharon Church road or maybe Wallace Road. His first wife was an Aldridge and his 2nd a Fields and I don't think he ever owned any land so he must have lived on the farm of one or both of his wives. As I recall that King Will was found in a Collection so you might need to check that Collection to see if there is more. Also, the woman who provided me with this information may have additional information on the Nelsons which is her direct line - not the Grubbs. She said they were from Pitt Co but she may know more. Let us know if you can date the original part of the house back that far. H. Clark? He was shown and an 1863 map and the owner of the property on which we now live. I know a Nelson man owned it 1871 and that Tebo McArthur bought it in partners with his stepfather another J. H. Clark prior to 1935. The McArthur family moved into the house in 1935. I am trying to pin point the age of the house as the interior construction indicates it could be as old as 1815. Thanks for any info > >Sue Gaddis >monument@esn.net > >
