You Westbrook researchers have enough to keep you busy for the next year. Ruth, What I knew about the Westbrook family before this week was limited to Rose and her Gray/Burrell Westbrooks and the intermarriage with the Canady family. I agree with Jack that the Westbrook Bible indicates Charles was the son of Moses, not James. In the "Rev. War Records of Sampson and Duplin Counties" by the Bizzells, there are indeed two Westbrooks. William - d with a will written in 1809 - children Furney, daughter who married Isaac Langston and William Sr. Served in the Wilmington District so New Hanover would be a logical place to look for him James - born in Southampton Co, Va in 1750. Married Mary Lee in 1774 and they had 8 children Moses b 1775 - md Edna Gainey and moved to Georgia James Jr md Isabel Uriah md Bathsheba Thornton Judith Sue md a Lee Persis who married Lewis Herring Charles - no information Joseph - md Polly Thornton William James died before 1816 and wife Mary dc 1830 - both in Sampson Co All this agrees with what you have except that the son Charles married Winifred Simmons. The list of James' children and the ones assumed to be those of Moses of Dobbs are different but one would have to assume Moses and James were brothers - too many of the same name including Persis. Maybe that name was also a Westbrook name. The Fort family also moved into NC - some in Edgecombe, Johnston and at least one in Wayne. I almost think they were connected with the Exum family in Va. I have the Boddie book and will take a look at it. Thanks, this adds to it. Got to be a connection with the Jones family here.
