Surnames: Gleaton, Argo(e) Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/QUB.2ACE/357.372.1 Message Board Post: Sandra, According to the book by Grace Gleaton Branch, Joseph Isaac Gleaton was on board a ship that was shipwrecked off of the coast of Beaufort, SC and was in Orangeburgh County. I don't know why he went to NC but he was there in the 1700's and lived close to the Argo(e) family. My thought is that this is where he met and married his wife Mary Argo(e) and that is the reason that, at least , my 3rd great-grandfather,Thomas Gleaton, Sr. was born there. The family moved to Orangeburg County, SC in the late 1700's. I was just trying to find proof of the marriage of Joseph to Mary Argo(e) and thought that someone in the NC area might have some proof of that. Do you live in the Orangeburg area? Thanks, Doris
