    1. [NCLENOIR] CAPS / CAPPS Query - CAN YOU HELP?
    2. Hello Everyone! I am trying to locate our CAPPS family origins. I have been told before coming to Johnston & then Cumberland County that our Capps lived in WAYNE County (around Goldsboro) and LENOIR County around KINSTON. I have seen our surname spelled CAPS and CAPPS. I am requesting anyone with any knowledge of them or resources listing them, to PLEASE contact me!!! I am trying to finish our family history before my Great Aunt passes on (She is 85 and spent 30 years researching the "old fashioned" way-going to courthouses, cemetaries etc...) Her sight is failing as well as her health so I have taken over this task. My Great Great grandfather was HARVEY CAPS / CAPPS (spelled both ways.) He married Unknown PHILLIPS. I descend through their son, WILLIAM HENRY CAPPS, 1933-4 - 1916; who married Nancy Ann SMITH 1935 - 1925-8 and settled in Cumberland County, where I now reside. Harvey probably had an older brother JEREMIAH CAPS / CAPPS, who was listed beside him in the 1830 WAYNE County Census. William Henry may have had a sister ELIZABETH and possibly a younger brother JOHN CAPS /CAPPS. I estimate Harvey being born circa 1806 - 1810. If anyone has even a clue to these persons or knows anything- no matter how insignificant it seems -PLEASE inform me!!! I do have a few hundred of HARVEY CAPS / CAPPS descendants on file for anyone who can tie into this line! Would love to find distant cousins & share data to inform about our CAPPS family members! Thank you so much for your assistance! I am currently disabled and forums such as these are an absolutely wonderful research tool!!! Gratefully, Ms. Nancy J. Capps
