    1. [NCLENOIR] Re: NC Archives Marriage Project
    2. Martha Marble
    3. Good question. On each individual County Archives site under Marriages. Listed as - name of county Archives Marriage Bible Records. They are all linked together on the main NC Archives site down at the bottom of the page - NC Marriage Project. Then on that site, it is linked to the US Marriage Project which is just getting going so keep checking on it. GUY - will there be a Search Engine just for the Marriage Project? Guy would appreciate it if when you post a Bible record on the Archives you would copy the Marriage Entries and double post them on the Marriage Page. The search engines do an excellent job of picking up the names in each file, but assume they miss some of them. This is a back up. 3. Posted on: Lenoir Co. NC Query Forum Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/NC/Lenoir/10678 Surname: KENNEDY, BYRD, HARDEE ------------------------- Eugenia's response rang a bell. Am adding Kennedy information to my Hardee datatbase because of all the intermarriages so am still not real comfortable with this line. As she indicated, the Jesse Kennedy Bible states that Thomas Jefferson Hardee married Martha Allen daughter of William and Persis Westbrook Allen. THe Lemuel Byrd who was living in the household was Thomas' nephew. Jesse Croom Kennedy - of the Bible - married Elizabeth Hardee daughter of Thomas and Sarah Croom Hardee. Among their children were Thomas Jefferson Hardee who married Martha Allen - NOT Martha Byrd - and Mary Kennedy who married Benjamin G. Byrd and had two children Jesse and Lemuel. This is proven in the Benjamin Parrott Collection posted on the Lenoir Co Archives. Martha

    3. Sarah, That particular Edward Waters went to the ESVA - Accomack and Northampton Co and he had a son William. THe entire family was well known during the 1600's and has been well researched. Think William was a member of the Burgess. Would need to check my notes but think William held importation right on the Tulls that ended up in Lenoir Co later. 3. Has anyone ever heard of the surname Coatsworth in the area - ca 1790 - 1810 or so. Francis said it was found in SC as was the name Pinkney. According to the Industrial Issue of the Free Press - Pinkney Hardee had the middle name of Coatsworth. We think Pinkney's father was William Hardee but no clue to his wife. Thanks Martha

    3. Patty, Had looked at the information on Old Dobbers - which is where I picked up on the 2nd generation of Parrott D. md into the Jackson family. One can only assume it was Parrott Jr who lived on the Lenoir-Jones border but this was not the seat of this family. THe seat appears to be more on the Wayne/Lenoir border. Was just wondering if there was another Parrott D. - not father and son - but maybe a cousin. Family sure appeared to move around. Have not heard from Kay but she is on digest. Would be nice to tie down IF Elizabeth Simmons married a Waters and which one and which Waters Sally Simmons Barwick married. The location would indicate the Parrott D. family - depending on where they were living for the 2nd marriage. Thanks Martha >From: Patty Day <paday.geo@yahoo.com> >Subject: Re: [NCLENOIR] Parrott D. 3. Kay and Patty, This is a case where I have done a bunch of lines in a family except for my own. Were there two Parrott D. Waters? Or did he just move around. By 1848 Abraham Simmons died leaving his widow, Martha (Patsy) Sutton Simmons and several children. His land was right on the Lenoir/Jones Co line on SW Creek adj to Jesse Jackson, John Tilghmann and Parrott D. Waters and wife. Noticed that Parrott md 2nd Susan Jackson - assume she was the daughter of Jesse? Patsy remarried John W. Heath and there is a Marriage Contract in Jones Co for the two of them which names all her children and gives the above neighbors of her inherited Simmons land. Patsy and John Heath had at least one child - Nancy born in 1850. Have not checked the later census records or Jones Co records Her Simmons children were and ca birth according to the 1850 Jones Census - Simeon bc 1832, Mary A. bc 1835, John W. b 1834 according to information I have seen but the census is different, Elizabeth S. bc 1838, Lemuel bc 1840, Sarah (mine) b Dec 1845. Neither Penelope or Ann were on the CEnsus and don't know what happened to them or their ages. I have seen information that the daughter Elizabeth S. married a Waters - first name not known - and since Parrott lived next door, wondered if she married one of his children. My Sarah Simmons married Richard Barwick who died young and she remarried a D. R. Waters - I think that was his name - and had issue. Not been able to tie all this down, but Sallie is buried at Maplewood. Her Death Certificate and the stone date is slightly off. Started to date a friend in high school and after two dates, mother told me I could not date him - we were too closely related - but she was always rather vague. I thought she was talking about on his father's side but she was talking about his mother's side. Seems his mother was the grandaughter of Sally Simmons Barwick Waters by her 2nd husband. Sally was my mother's g grandmother. Martha

    3. Guy has posted what I think are the last files for St. Marys that Rose has done. Also, posted tonight the New Hope Baptist CHurch records that Sloan did from the originals in the posssession of Bill Herring. Have seen the hard copy on the St. Marys records (Patty copied them from the microfilm) but not had time to look at New Hope. Many thanks to Patty, Rose, Sloan and Guy for these massive projects. From a personal standpoint, the St. Marys records are a great help with my own families. We are blessed with members who volunteer so much of their time to assist others. Guy is hoping to expand his Marriage Project to other counties so please consider volunteering a little of your time. Martha

Mrs. Harvey I believe was a Bland prior to her marriage to Mr. Felix Harvey. I am not sure of their family history but believe that his family was a long time residence of this area. If I could be of more assistance, let me know. They still reside in Kinston.
