We are not suppose to run warnings about virus, worms etc; however, this is my 2nd exception. I have an inbox full of this warning and it will probably get worse tomorrow. Erols, McAffe etc all say it is a hoax and there is an article in the Washington Post today about it. the SULFNBK file is a crucial Windows file - if you have Windows you have it. It helps Windows re-create long file names if they get corrupted. If you leaped before you looked, you can retrieve the deleted file from your Windows CD. There is a virus that can affect the file and others - it is called W32.Magistr.24876@mm. You receive it as an attachment. The "fix" has been available on all the major anti-virus updates since the middle of March. All this information from the Post article - one can only assume they have their facts straight. Martha

I suspect this is either someone not remembering his last name correctly when they made the list (has anyone ever called you Dan Fairfield or Dan Faircloth? that has happened to me several times ... except for the "Dan" part!!) ... or, perhaps the writing is illegible ... not sure it helps much, except we may now know that Peter Fairfax was not a young man during the Revolution, which leaves open the possibility of him being the same Peter as the one that got married in London .... couldn't find any Fairfields in the other lists ... Many thanks to PCFR listmember A. D. who went to Columbia, SC and copied the will of John Enloe Sheppard and estate records of Abraham Sheppard for me. This is tied into the Col JOhn Hardee line through his daughter Susannah Hardee Enloe Croom, so they say. It is also part of the Humphrey Hardy line. Sometime this summer hope to backtrack on Humphrey to see what some of us might have missed. According to information sent to Ruth some say there is a connection between the Middlesex, Va family and Humphrey through Joseph and Arvella Parrott Hardee. Roger, there is a lot of this that is not going to be readable because it did not copy, but might be enough for the Quarterly. Be next week before I have a chance to really look at the information.
