    1. [NCLENOIR] ROUSE on Old Dobbers
    2. Patty Day
    3. I just went through and fixed all the broken ROUSE links. And there were many, the link fairy must have been working overtime or something. Please let me know if you come across Links that do no work properly on Old Dobbers, Greene Co. NC GenWeb and Lenoir Co. NC GenWeb pages. School is out in less than two weeks. YEAH! Now is a good time for you to let me know if you have any webpages that you want Old Dobbers to link to. I know many of you have gotten brave and have at least one page up. The home page of Old Dobbers has a direct link to the page where those links are found. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~paday/dobbers/index.htm Guy is doing a fantastic job with the Lenoir and Greene County NC. Archives site at USGen WEB. Thank You, I just can not say it enough. Be sure to check out the other sites Guy manages, especially Wayne. He must require little sleep because he sure is busy posting to the sites :-) I am still working on a couple of things that I received recently. An update on BARRS is one of them. Hang in there and keep sending me your goodies to post. 1. [NCLENOIR] The SULFNBK.EXE "Virus" is a hoax
    2. Martha Marble
    3. We are not suppose to run warnings about virus, worms etc; however, this is my 2nd exception. I have an inbox full of this warning and it will probably get worse tomorrow. Erols, McAffe etc all say it is a hoax and there is an article in the Washington Post today about it. the SULFNBK file is a crucial Windows file - if you have Windows you have it. It helps Windows re-create long file names if they get corrupted. If you leaped before you looked, you can retrieve the deleted file from your Windows CD. There is a virus that can affect the file and others - it is called W32.Magistr.24876@mm. You receive it as an attachment. The "fix" has been available on all the major anti-virus updates since the middle of March. All this information from the Post article - one can only assume they have their facts straight. Martha

    1. [NCLENOIR] Peter Fairfield / FAIRFAX - Dobbs County, NC
    2. Fairfax, Dan
    3. Hello Cousin Allen FAIRFAX, who is blessed with the opportunity to cross the big pond and visit James and Peter Fairfax's Home Church this summer!!! ...{:) TAKE PICTURES!!!! ...{:) Excellent find ... Faircloth is a prominent NC name ... Senator Faircloth hails from Sampson County, NC and is a favorite son of Clinton, NC the county seat . ... and yes I have been referred to as Fairchild/Fairfield/Fairfox ...etc. The Ed Lovitt referred to in the listings may be the grandpappy of the Lovetts who moved to Columbus County, NC and Heck Lovett who bought Jack Fairfax's Farm and "Other Fairfax Lands" as referred to in the Columbus County Historical History....{:). If we can determine Walter Fairfax's (Northampton County, NC Constable in 1802/3& finally residing in Nashville,Tennessee in 1806) siblings and parents and the Jernigan Family connection to Whitmel Jernigan (Whitmel's Will of 1793 in Bladen County, NC) ... we may very well be heading "back to" England ...{:). Jack Fairfax is an original Charter Member of the FAIRFAX Society of England and Gerry Webb's book "FAIRFAX of YORK", January 2001, refers to him as a viable source of FAIRFAX history in England. Keep on, keeping on!!! ...{:). The referred to listing of Dobbs County Military folks also lists Jesse Jernigan, who I believe may be our JERNIGAN patriarch of North Carolina ...{:) Have a great day ... you just made mine! Best regards, Cousin Dan Fairfax 2629 Somerset Drive Nashville, Tennessee 37217 dfairfax@nespower.com <mailto:dfairfax@nespower.com> P.S. - HAPPY BIRTHDAY W. S. Hardee of Horry County and many more Blessed years to you COUSIN! ... your significant contribution will always be recognized as a gracious and excellent source of family research by us "newbies"!!!! Cousin Dan ========================= -----Original Message----- From: Allen Fairfax [mailto:fairfaxa@hotmail.com] Sent: Tuesday, May 29, 2001 9:42 PM To: DFairfax@nespower.com Subject: Peter Fairfield Hello Dan, Think I found another reference to Peter Fairfax ... go to the following: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~paday/dobbers/men_over_age.htm <http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~paday/dobbers/men_over_age.htm> and you will find a listing for a Peter Fairfield among a bunch of folks who are listed in the same tax list with Peter Fairfax in 1780 ... I suspect this is either someone not remembering his last name correctly when they made the list (has anyone ever called you Dan Fairfield or Dan Faircloth? that has happened to me several times ... except for the "Dan" part!!) ... or, perhaps the writing is illegible ... not sure it helps much, except we may now know that Peter Fairfax was not a young man during the Revolution, which leaves open the possibility of him being the same Peter as the one that got married in London .... couldn't find any Fairfields in the other lists ... 1. [NCLENOIR] Thanks to A.D. for call beyond duty - Hardee, Sheppard, Enloe (Roger, please read)
    2. Martha Marble
    3. Many thanks to PCFR listmember A. D. who went to Columbia, SC and copied the will of John Enloe Sheppard and estate records of Abraham Sheppard for me. This is tied into the Col JOhn Hardee line through his daughter Susannah Hardee Enloe Croom, so they say. It is also part of the Humphrey Hardy line. Sometime this summer hope to backtrack on Humphrey to see what some of us might have missed. According to information sent to Ruth some say there is a connection between the Middlesex, Va family and Humphrey through Joseph and Arvella Parrott Hardee. Roger, there is a lot of this that is not going to be readable because it did not copy, but might be enough for the Quarterly. Be next week before I have a chance to really look at the information. Again, thanks to A. D. Martha
