    1. [NCLENOIR] FAIRFAX/Pell Family
    2. Fairfax, Dan
    3. Hello "Sir" John! ....{:) We American FAIRFAX folks truly appreciate you'all's awesome efforts and support!!! I will be happy to see whut we'uns can do fer ya on the PELL Family! ....{:) Hopefully we can continue to provide supportive information towards the FAIRFAX SOCIETY of ENGLAND's "Gracious" efforts for all of the various FAMILY Surnames related to the FAIRFAX folks of England! ...{:) We have connected with another FAIRFAX cousin, who lives near Petersburg, Virginia where a significant US Civil War, 1860's, took place over several years and one of my direct FAIRFAX ancestor was reported as "Killed in Action" in 1864, while Honorably serving as a Private in the North Carolina Troop Infantry 51st Regiment, Company "G" .... Confederate States of America Private Thomas Fairfax, (identified in the 1850 Census of Columbus County, North Carolina). We are seeking any military reports or personal journal/diary information of the Petersburg, Virginia CSA Military actions/battles that may have listed his regiment/company/details of any nature during 1864????? Best regards, always! Sincerely, Cousin Dan Fairfax 2629 Somerset Drive Nashville, Tennessee 37217 dfairfax@nespower.com ========================== -----Original Message----- From: John Thomson [mailto:JFGT@compuserve.com] Sent: Thursday, August 02, 2001 6:46 AM To: Fairfax, Dan; Gerry Webb Subject: Pell Family Hi Dan, Many thanks for the steady stream of useful information you are circulating within the 'loop'. The archives are mounting to be a formidable record for future generations. Hope you enjoyed the new Web Page. I anticipate adding a picture of Gerry and your Mayor of Fairfax at the Book Launch in York last month. Gerry is trying to trace a story about the Pell family in which you may be able to help. The only clue is a title - "Pell, the Pig Murder". Does this ring a bell with you ? Unfortunately no dates to help trace the story. Look forward to your comments. Best wishes, John

    1. [NCLENOIR] Re: Bryan Family
    2. Richard: It is wonderful to hear from you. My mother and I have worked on this line for years, and Elias BRYAN and Rosanna Holmes EVERETT are her 3-Great Grandparents, as well. Although my mother has most of the documentation (and I will forward your address to her for response), I can tell you that we believe Elias' parents were Robert BRYAN, Jr. and Anne HICKMAN. My mother will be excited to hear from a BRYAN of the same line... seems you are a rare find for us. I'm sure she will contact you. We believe that Robert BRYAN, Jr., was born about 1725 in Southampton Co., VA, and died about 1774 in Halifax Co, (now Martin Co.), NC. Now, funny thing is, there is, in Southampton County, VA, a land record between Robert BRYAN(T) of Edgecomb County, NC, and William BRYAN(T) of Southampton County, VA, dated 1751. Apparently Robert BRYAN(T) of Edgecomb County, NC, sold his inheritance land to his brother, William, who still lived in Southampton County, VA. We do wonder if Isle of Wight County, VA, records will show where Robert BRYAN(T), Sr., purchased the land, since Southampton was formed out of Isle of Wight County, VA, in 1749. There is a Will of Robert BRYAN(T), Sr., proven in November 1750 in Southampton County, VA. The Will names sons William, Thomas, Robert, John & Guil [Gale] and daughters Morning, Ann, Rebecca, Alice, Sarah and Mary. We believe this Roberty BRYAN(T), Sr., was born about 1688 in Gloucester Co, VA, and married Mary GALE, daughter of Thomas GALE, Jr., and wife, Alice. I do not have the documentation for this connection, but perhaps my mother does. My mother just e-mailed me to explain the connection from Elias to his father Robert BRYAN: The fact that Robert & Ann H. Bryan are the parents of Elias Bryan is recorded in a typed copy of the “Rosanna Holmes Everett Bryan Bible”, found in Lenoir County Community College, NC., which appeared to have been abstracted and typed by H.B. Hart, Jr. and found in the estate of Mrs. B. Braxton Jones. The original Bible(s) were in possession of Mrs. Redmond Bunn, and are moth eaten and illegible in places. We do not know where the bible is today. I once remember hearing there was a portrait of Elias BRYAN, but I have no data to substantiate it, and no idea where it would be. Please be in touch!

    2. Martha Marble
    3. The stone for Thomas Hardison almost has to be Thomas Sr. I have no clue when he died and had assumed in Lenoir Co but maybe he moved in with his youngest son and died in Greene Co. Have asked Ray to check the estate records in Greene and the same needs to be done in Lenoir. This rather complicates what to do about his "stone" sort of now at the cemetery in Lenoir Co on SW Creek. Thanks Ray for this information. And also thanks to Kay for additional information on Christopher. 3. There are a bunch of you who descend from Christopher. Would you share some of your information with me - privately as some of these people are still alive. Would like the full names, dates, spouses of his children and grandchildren - that is as far as I am going to take it. I have all these nicknames, few dates etc. Do have complete information on John - I think. Have the name of James' children but no dates, spouses. Have the information on Franklin from Ray. About to start on that branch. What about the daughters of Thomas? I have a little on Clarissa who married Luther Kennedy - names of children and CA dates but no actual dates, no spouses etc. I have nothing on Amanda, Julia, Lotty, Florence, Margaret who might have married a Faulkner and Millie who appears not to have married. It appears that all of the Thomas Jr descendants were asleep at the helm on his tombstone and I just realized it about two weeks ago. We know where Thomas Jr was buried but the stone is long gone. For some really unexplained reason we got a Civil War Monument placed in the cemetery with Thomas Jr's dates and his father's Civil War record. Bit of a mess. Going to have the dates removed and Thomas Sr's dates put on it - soon as we can figure out about when he died. Thanks. Martha

    3. NOTE - Hettie is not on the Lenoir list I don't have any information but running this to the Lenoir List. I have just gotten the descendants of Thomas Hardison Jr on the database but not his siblings. My Lenoir Hardison family came out of Duplin but there was another branch in Onslow and some of them also moved into Lenoir a little later. I think all the Hardison researchers on the Lenoir list are part of the Duplin family. 2. Patty Day
    3. Greetings, I had to reinitialize my hard drive Monday and lost everything that was not on my zip disks. If you sent me an attatchment in the last month and a half which I have not posted yet, you will need to resend it. I am asking that you wait for awhile though. I receive from 1-6 worm infected attatchments a day. I check all my email at my yahoo account and that helps because I scan it and keep it off my harddrive that way. I will accept attatchments after awhile and will let you know when. In the mean time, you can cut and paste text into an email and I can post it from there. If it is too much for an email, let me know and I will either make and exception, or have you put it on a disk or CD to send snail mail. For now, I think it is best if I do not open any attatchments, unless I am expecting it. Thanks for understanding and I hope this virus goes away and stays away. I am sure you are as frustrated as I am. Tracy would you please pass this on to the Craven list and let them know. I know I had a couple Craven items.
