This Virus was sent to me in some email and I don't know who sent it to me therefore it would be good for each one to have their system checked by the latest Virus software. I did not know what was wrong, but thought it was a Virus. I had an old version of Norton and new McAfee and they did not pick it up. I purchased the 2001 version of Norton Antivirus and it immediately found it. We have stripped everything off my computer and did quick restore and are putting my programs back on now. I really advise everyone to check good to make sure they are not sending it and did not know it. It had been on my computer for several weeks. Good luck. Linda Melvin

Nathan Harper of Lenoir who went to Ky had a son, Blaney. THat is an unusual name and to find it in both families indicates a connection. We think that Francis I and Alexander who first appear in Craven/Greene were brothers and more than possible that John who first appears on the Trent two years later could have also been a brother. Any idea who the father of Nathan was? Would he have been a son or grandson of old John? Martha

We are all fine - very stressed. Without question, no one in this neighborhood doubts the crashed plane in PA was headed to the Capital and if that had happened, some of us would not be here this morning. Several of you work with Mary Jane in New York - received an email last night from her. She is midtown and except for awful smoke and ash, she and her family are fine. Your government is "open" for show today - just don't expect to do any business with any agency. No one went to work today if they had vacation time coming. Lot of streets and roads are closed off, National Guard is on the streets, helos are cross crossing the sky. Our thoughts and prayers are with all the families of the victims and with our Country. No doubt there are people on our lists who will be touched personally by the events of yesterday. As Sloan said, give blood - it is needed. Martha

I would like to extend my condolences to the family and friends of anyone out there who may have been affected by these horrible acts. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. I would like to offer a suggestion to those living in the United States, and that is to purchase a U.S. flag and display it outside your homes as a symbol of solidarity and of unity. Please pass this suggestion along. I would like to let everyone know that My thoughts and Prayers are with anyone who has family members in NY and Washington; and for all the victims of this terrible day. This is too overwhelming to grasp!!! I know our Nation will come together as one; to help everyone in need. If you feel like doing anything--the one thing you can do is give blood, I am sure this will be needed immediately for the nation. sloan mason

Thank you Ruth and others, I will save the messages and send them together. This is a sad and frightening day for all of us. It reminds me how proud I am to be a member of our internet family and how important our family history work is. My husband is a federal employee (Interior Department) and they are on lock down. So, I suspect this is affecting many of our list members directly. You are all in our thoughts and prayers, as are the people and families of the victims. What ever your religion, spiritual beliefs or faith; I believe the Lord can and will, with His divine intervention, direct our National Leaders to have the ability to handle this crisis . John Phillips had two Phillips grandchildren in his will of ca 1790 - William and Sidney. William was born 1782, married Elizabeth Carr and had among other children, Argent Lassiter Phillips. It is assumed that the father of William and Sidney was Thomas. It appears to me that Thomas may have been married twice with two sets of children but I have no clue to his wives. William had another daughter, Elizabeth Bond Phillips. The Bond and Lassiter names are possible clues. Delaney Harper married Holland Phillips bc 1789 or so. The names of their children are very similiar to William Phillips' children and I think Holland was also a daughter of Thomas. Delaney and Holland had a daughter Argent Lassister. Old John Phillips had a daughter, Argent, who married Jacob Lassiter. They had a daughter, Elizabeth, who according to the estate records died without heirs. I am trying to figure out what, if any, other relationship existed between the Phillips and Lassiter families. Rose, does the name Holland appear in the Lassiter family? It is not a Phillips name.
