2. I thought i had seen where this might be a Hoax. SULFNBK.EXE Hoax May 2001 This warning is a hoax. It was originally issued in Portuguese but some nice person translated it into English. The real sulfnbk.exe program is a Windows program that is used to restore long file names. You will find it in the \Windows\Command folder. Keep in mind that sulfnbk.exe, like any executable program, could be infected with a virus. You should regularly scan all the files on your system using a current antivirus scanner to insure that none of them contains a virus. Information on how to replace the sulfnbk.exe program, in case you deleted it, is available at the Symantic, McAfee, and other antivirus websites. 1. RE: [NCLENOIR] Happy Holidays
2. Hoffman, Susan
3. I also would like to say Merry Christmas, Happy Holydays to all. I have so appreciated all the hard work, dedication and unending talent that has been donated to our research and each other. The kind thoughts, prayers and encouragement has been a welcome comfort for me this year. Christmas day will be a hard thing to get through this year, but with continued support, hugs and prayers we shall make it through and will be the better for it. I do not think of this time as my mother's last Christmas, but instead see it as chance to celebrate another special day with her and my family together. May God Bless each of you in His own way, and may He comfort us all in our time of need and celebrate with us in our lives endeavors. Susan Burgess-Hoffman -----Original Message----- From: Martha Marble [mailto:mmarble@erols.com] Sent: Thursday, December 20, 2001 8:11 AM To: NCLENOIR-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [NCLENOIR] Happy Holidays May each of you and your families have a joyful Christmas. From the lack of decorations in my neighborhood and talking to a number of families, it appears that many people are making an effort to go "home" to be with extended family this year. Instead of spending a lot of money on presents people seem to be returning to the true meaning of Christmas - family and the many traditions we grew up with and most important, the celebration of the Birth of Christ or the celebration of Hanukkah. Some of you have very ill family members or have lost family members recently and we will keep you in our thoughts and prayers because this will be a difficult time for you. As we reflect on the events of the fall, we all hope the New Year will not bring a repeat and we pray for peace in the world. We hope our service people who are abroad protecting us will be safe and soon return home. Martha

2. Martha Marble
3. Tracy's original information is correct. the Christmas Special until Dec 31 for the two books is $80 plus $10.00 shipping. They had to go up on the shipping recently because it was costing $5.00 per book to mail. That new information will be changed on the website. These are large books and heavy. Of course, if you live in the area, you can pick them up and save $10.00. Only checks or money orders are accepted and should be made out to the Lenoir County Historical Association and sent to Mary Mac Ritch whose snail mail address is on the website. http://www.historicalpreservationgroup.org/HistAssoc/books.html Martha

3. I so wish I could help out. Between driving up to my mother's to help care for her four days a week and working and watching my grandson, I just have no time. For those that do not know, my mother is dying of liver failure, related to her diabetes. Mom is not expected to be around, may not even make Christmas. She is in much pain and mostly remains in a haze or sleeps. She can not be left alone. My father, a Kinston boy, had a minor heart attack a few weeks ago. He is working too hard (to keep up insurance for mom, she is only 64) too worried and caring for her. So they both need prayers right now. When the time comes for mom to leave us, and things have settled down, I can become more involved in helping. As I am sure it will help me to recover to get back to my life. Happy Holidays to all, take pleasure in your family. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Tracy Putnam" <nccuzins@hotmail.com> To: <NCLENOIR-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, December 13, 2001 7:53 PM Subject: [NCLENOIR] Lenoir County Historical Books > Hello All, > > As most of you by now know, > The Lenoir County Historical Association has two wonderful books for sale. > 1. 3. About the full name index. Now I know it is the Holiday Season but we really need some more help with the typing of the index - before or after the Holidays. We are saving a lot of time by doing the multiple surnames with one surname at the top and just the first names below which saves a lot of time and key strokes. I just finished the B's and it did not take all that long and typing, as most of you know, is not my forte. The object of doing the index is to try and move these books, especially the Heritage Book. The Historical Association will not consider doing Vol 2 until the reprint of Vol 1 is sold. Many of us would like to see Vol 2 done with members of these lists doing most of the write ups for families of Dobbs, Lenoir and Greene and that includes early Craven and Jones. The proceeds will go to painting Harmony Hall. Remember, tis the season for GIVING - a couple of hours of your time if you already have a copy of the book. You need to contact Tracy. Thank you. 3. Has been a long time, but as I recall, the Slaughters and Fields of Culpepper intermarried several times. That area is not a normal migration route to old Dobbs but my, the identical surnames abound in both places. Discovered many of the families in the Culpepper area went into Ky. Rolling stones is a really good way to put it. Martha At 05:30 PM 12/10/01 -0800, you wrote: >Martha and Christine, >I was checking the 1850 census for Page Co.
