    3. We had not planned on running this until Patty had a chance to notify the lists but it needs an explanation as to the delays. For personal reasons, Patty can no longer continue as our webmaster. She has done a first class job on developing this site and keeping up with it. Most of you have no clue to the time it takes to stay on top of a site that has grown as fast as this one. It leaves little time for anything else including research and most important, family matters. Patty is going to continue with the graphics and she will continue to have imput. There are not enough words to say how much we all appreciate her time and efforts on our behalf. THANK YOU, PATTY. Guy Potts has agreed to take over as the main webmaster but he needs some time to clear up some other projects he is working on and to learn a different system. I am also trying to find someone with a lot of patience to teach me how to do a website so I can help out. And Tracy has offered to help but she has so much already, would only use her in a pinch. Please just sit on everything for the time being. Patty had started cleaning up the site this summer but it needs to be refined more. We have come close to being a "victim of our success" and we need to sit down and take a look at where we want to go with the site. Again, our heartfelt thanks to Patty and also to Guy for keeping it going. Martha

    3. Thanks so much Patty, the site is one of the REAL good ones in NC. Almost all the NC ones I have visited are good but these especially "take the cake". And we'll miss you Patty, but the start you have made will last and hopefully improve with time. Thanks too Martha, and another one to Guy for stepping in to fill the post. Also, tradition says that Edwin Taylor who lived on Horse Branch down near Deep Run/Woodington married a Penelope Smith - have not verified that information either. (So far I cannot trace back further than this) Owen died Jan 29 1929, (Owen was the brother of my ggg grandmother Axie Smith and interestingly enough, when I pulled Axie's death cert today, found that the back side was the death cert of her brother Owen, she died 2 days before he did) I am also looking for descendants of Cooper Hill and Ella Elizabeth Smith. they were married in Lenoir County on 6/28/1903 Cooper was the son of Nathan Hill and his second wife Axie Smith Cooper and Ella Elizabeth had the following children: Nathan Hill born 4/15/1904 married Pearl Carter Mamie Isabell Hill born 7/10/1908 married Roland Murphy Edna Earl Hill 11/09/1910 married William Stroud Children of Nathan Hill and Pearl Carter: Eloise Hill born 1/25/1924 married Leonard Sanderson Edward Earl Hill 10/23/1925 married Donnie Baker Turner Annie Mae Hill 11/17/1927-10/23/1929 Clarence Rodolph Hill 1/19/1930 married Ethelene Turner Ralph Hill 5/14/1932 married Pearl Turner Helen Louise Hill 4/30/1934 Joseph Andrew Hill 5/4/1936 married Estelle Carter Bettie Lou Hill 1/29/1940 Children of Roland Murphy and Mamie Isabelle Hill are: Mamie Julie 11/16/1931 married Billy Dixon Houston Helen-stillborn Tessie Lee 5/4/1934-7/2/1934 Marvin Ellwood 1/20/1937 married Betty Lou Dail Adolph 9/24/1940 married Lucy Faye Pittman Alene married Walter Theodore Dail Emeline Elaine married Arthur Perry Children of Edna Earl Hill and William Stroud Sybil Gray 10/11/1930 married Bryant Smith Jr. Alton J 5/1/1935 married Margaret Jean Jones Elizabeth Caroline 2/21/1942 married George Edward Skinner please note, the above information on the children of Cooper Hill and Ella Elizabeth Smith comes from the book Descendants of Elijah Smith and has not been verified by myself.
