I have recently retired and am just now getting into all of this. I am not sure what county they were from in North Carolina. They ended up around New Burn, I believe that was the area. I do not know how my Elizabeth got the middle name of Graves. Maybe it was her mother's maiden name? I will have to get that "story" and just send it to you. I have met a cousin on the internet who gave me loads of information about my Claytor family, all the way back to 1650. It is rather hard to trace that family because of the spelling. Most people spell it with an N rather than an R. I really appreciate any help that you or your cousin can give to me. I have a "story" written by my grandfather about his mother, Elizabeth Graves Lovick who was brought to America from England. She was a year old when she was brought here by her parents. I do not have the name of the ship. There are some surnames mentioned and one of the names is Kilpatrick who were first cousins of my Elizabeth Lovick. Elizabeth was married two times, her first husband was O'Neal or Mc Neal who died and left her a young widow. She then married my great grandfather Samuel Baker Claytor. Does any of this sound familiar to you? Would love the hear from you if it does. Carlene my e-mail address is ccgrimes@bellsouth.net
"Commissioners preserve county's history" are the headlines this morning in the Kinston Free Press and lead news story on Greenville TV news. Yesterday marked a milestone for the Historical Preservation Group as well as Lenoir County. The commissioners room at the courthouse was full with "Save the Battlefields" supporters. BJ Murphy made a very impressive PowerPoint presentation asking that the county place an historical easement on the Rivermount and Meadowbrook FEMA areas which was a major portion of the Kinston Battlefield. The commissioners all agreed to work with the HPG to come up with a plan for the battlefield. There is a lot of hard work to make the battlefields a reality. We need all the help we can get. If interested please contact me at diamondg@icomnet.com If you wish to become a sustaining member go to our web site www.historicalpreservationgroup.org. Jane Phillips God Bless America!

Let me add my heartfelt thanks as well, Patty. As some sportscaster said recently, "Might as well put his (her in your case) shoes on the shelf, cause there's no point in trying to fill them! " You've done such a great job, and with the patience of Job. Hope you will have a good stretch now and that we will be hearing from you soon!
