    3. Julia Moseley Combs knows more about the Moseley family than anyone and has published a small booklet but she is not online. I have a good deal of information on them myself on the database because of their intermarriages with the Mewborn family. There are several references to the Moseley family in the Rouse Collection. I don't have any reference to the Mozingo family in my notes - don't think but there was a Matthew Moseley - actually have 6 of them on my database. The most likely prospect is the one no one has any information on - naturally. Matthew Moseley son of Tully and Susannah Jones Moseley. Tully was bc 1765. Have nothing on this Matthew or most of his siblings. Know that Julia doesn't either. This family was seated at Mosely Hall - La Grange so right place - probably right time. 3. Sloan has just uploaded the Noah Rouse Collection additions on Old Dobbers. List member, Sue, so graciously abstracted this Collection some time back and it must have taken her several Sats to do it - she does work. Sue and I have worked together for years and she always does a first class job on whatever she does as most of you know. There are a number of brown envelopes in the Collection that contain fragments or pieces of documents and the first ones were so fragile she elected not to do them. I took a day on this last trip and went back through the Collection with no hesitation to try to piece those fragments together in the hopes that some other Rouse tidbit would jump out from those fragments - don't think they did; however, it did indicate all of those Mozingo women were the heirs of John Mozingo. Also think there was something that added to the Holmes line. I also did the Court date and the enrollment when noted. There were other small corrections and additions but that would be the case if a third person went back through the Collection. One thing neither of us saw was a note that Sarah had made on the back of one of the deeds - Joshua Rouse his papers to Noah Rouse. I was looking for it so it might take a third pair of eyes to find it. Again, our heartfelt thanks to Sue for taking the time to do this Collection in the first place and in her usual manner. She met me for a few minutes at Duke so we had a short visit. These additions will only be posted on Old Dobbers because I had already changed the format slightly from the Archives for my own use. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~paday/dobbers/index.htm Joint Projects, Rouse Martha

    1. Legal Term & Supreme Court Cases
    2. Martha Marble
    3. Thanks to Irvin who sent the definition of Demurrer which appears in several Supreme Court cases - it was not exactly what I thought. I am not abstracting these cases from the legal standpoint but from the genealogical standpoint. Guy is in the process of posting the ones typed up but there are a number still to go. Have to decide what is going to be kept for the HGS newsletter. Some of these are not Lenoir or Greene cases although some of them are linked to one of the two counties. There is one posted for Gates, a couple for Hertford, maybe more than one for Craven and one for Onslow. The weekly "what's new" http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/nc/recent-uploads/recentuploads.htm does not always pick up the new files so I have discovered. Some will show up in this weeks new additions and some next weeks and some probably the week after. For Lenoir Co we have split out the Supreme Court Cases into its own file since there appear to be so many of them. Patty has spent this week working on her Lovick database which will be posted on Dobbers shortly based on one of these cases. That Will will be used for HGS first but not sure about the case. Peggy is trying to tie down the one Tull line that had not been proven based on another case but the census taker seems to have missed them. The Benjamin (Oxley) Sutton case needs to be slightly re-worded and the guesswork for some of the children are now proven. That Will has not been sent to Guy - waiting on two clarifications - but the cases were sent this morning. The cases vary in genealogical information or information of any kind. A few had nothing but the opinion of the court and it is difficult to know exactly what the case was. Some of the documents within the folders contradict other documents. Some of the cases make no sense whatsoever.
