One says Nathaniel, another says John was his Gr-Grandfather. What I think is correct is this: Joseph, William, Joseph, John, John. Like I said. Another line says: Joseph, William, Joseph, Nathaniel, John. Any information would be greatly appreciated. CW

    1. Letter of interest
    2. Ron & Susan Hoffman
    3. In one of these letters, written in Aug of 1895 from Hookerton, NC, Sis Myrtle (Heath) writes to her sister Sallie telling her of the family she is busy visiting. She mentions going to "cousin Alice Lassiters". I do not have this person or the name Lassiter in my files. Anyone know her? She also mentions that she has heard that Sallie is "having a splendid time with the boys, J.J.M especially. I think Joe is a very nice young man". (Sallie married my great grandfather George Rouse in 1899) Also mentioned is about Eva Taylor and someone named Bob, who seemed to have been "a thing" at the time. Myrtle writes that Lizzie Dixon "having died last Sunday" (the letter was written on August 21, 1895) says she "helped to shroud her, it was my first experience" I shall miss Lizzie lots, she was twelve years old. There was something remarkable about her death, she had an aunt Lizzie fourteen years ago she dies of gastretis, she was taken sick on Wednesday with a chill and died on Sunday. Lizzie Dixon was taken the same day and died the same day and had the same disease, both died on third Sunday in August." She also tells of meeting Mr. Tom Kilpatrick while she was visiting in Institute and then a Mr. Charlie Smith, she describes as "handsome and very light complicated". There are many more letters to read from 1891 - 1904. This is better than the novel I am reading at night. Susan

    3. Found many letter from the mid 1890's to my great-grandmother, Sallie E Heath from her uncle in Fitzhugh, Florida. The address on the letters is "Miss Sallie E Heath, Fields P.O. NC". Does anyone recognize this area? I knew that both her father, Thomas A Heath and the Rouse's lived in what they called "the country" and not Kinston City proper, but did not know where exactly. After the parents deaths, Sallie and her husband George Kinsey Rouse, sold the two farms and he built a house in Kinston between 1900-1904. Susan

    3. Linda has been hard at work on the Deal/Dail Project which is now posted on Old Dobbers. We would imput from all the known lines of this family in our area which includes Pitt, Duplin, Greene and Lenoir Counties - maybe something will jump out at us that might try to put some of these people together. Linda is the co-ordinator - [email protected] - so please consult with her on what she wants. Maybe lines as far back as you can prove with documentation and maybe any hunches you might have. No doubt all our families come out of Norfolk Co but appear to be different lines. The Pitt line - or at least one of them - appears to be a different line than most of the ones in Greene and it appears at least some of the ones in Wayne and Duplin come out of Pitt. Some of the other ones have the same names as found in Greene. Linda has done a super job and has been working on this for more than a year - THANK YOU, Linda. Please add your lines and notes but talk to Linda first.

Uncle Charlie was my grandfather's, Sherman Odham Sr, brother and Mariza Smith was my grandfather's sister. I know that there was another sister with the last name Abbott but I don't know what her first name was. My father, Sherman Odham, was one of six children my grandmother, Vallie Langston Odham delivered. Two daughters died when they were about 2 years old and four survived to adulthood. My dad had two brothers and one sister. His brothers were named, Fred Odham, and James Winton Odham. His sister was Frances. She married Samuel McClawhorn and born him to children Nancy Gail and Samuel Whit. My Uncle Fred had five daughers, Cheryl, Brenda, Phyllis, Marilyn and Sarilyn. My Uncle Winton had one daugher named Rebecca Denise. All of us, with th exception of Nancy Gail and Samuel Whit went to Contentnea School or North L! enoir. My Dad had three girls, myself, Vallie and Alice. I think somewhere in my house, I have some genealogy work completed by my Uncle Winton on the Odham family.
