In response to a request for a list of publications that Dr. Pruitt and Dr. Bradley will have available to purchase at our PCFR Reunion in Oct....we do not have that information now. For those of you who cannot attend the Reunion, many of their books can be ordered online. Just do a search on the two authors to find websites with their books for sale. Many of Dr. Bradley's books are listed here and can be ordered from this site: http://www.genealogydirect.com/category_list.cfm?ID=75&m Dr. Pruitt's publications are listed on this site, but cannot be ordered here. You may find a website selling his books by searching his name or the book title that is of interest to you. http://members.tripod.com/abpruitt/id2.htm When we do get more information about this, I'll post it. Paula, Your speculation that the BAKERS may have been Mormons is possible, I suppose. But it's far more likely that they were QUAKERS, or at least connected with them. Following the Civil War there was a great migration of Quakers from NC to Indiana and other Mid-Atlantice States, including families from Green and Wayne Counties, as well as Guilford. Because of their religious beliefs Quakers refused to take an oath under any circumstances. Consequently, they were denied "The Right To Vote", and, of course, to serve in public office. They were also ostracized in other ways. This became an intolerable issue, so they moved on to a more hospitable climate. It was not only a great travesty of justice, but doubtless the greatest lost of mental, spiritual and social power in the history of our state. I grieve about it yet. Blessings in your search, Jim Smith
