    1. County lists of Registar of Deeds offices
    2. Well, I'm done, so here it is: www.doh.dot.state.nc.us/preconstruct/highway/location/county.htm When you get to this page, there are three columns of web sites, one for Geographic Info, one for the Tax office, and if you page over to the right they have a list of Register of Deeds sites. Someone already did all the work! I did link to the Craven site from here but someone else had given me the New Hanover info (nhcgov.com) and I didn't check to see if it was the same yet. Incidentally, I checked Pitt county, I need a fairly current death cert from there, I think, and would have loved to know it was there or even request it by mail and just my luck, no searchable death index data base. Or at least not one I could find. Well, at least it not a too far away! I still think we should compile a list of which of these actually have something of interest to us. I may work on that later today, right now Emily needs me. Laura

    1. County lists of web sites Craven
    2. Craven county has an interesting site. I have emailed them to ask when their data begins but if you want to check out more recent data the site is www.cravencounty.com. From the first screen select Craven county Government, next County Government, next Departments, next Register of Deeds, next search index and deeds. From the last screen you can select different indices for marriages, deaths, births and deeds. I did not see a site to print off a request for a copy of the document if you wanted one but it did list whether it was there or not. There is also a fee schedule on the site. Maybe someone with more current Craven county relatives could check it out and discover it's attributes and limitations. Laura Martha, I hope I am getting this there right. Still don't get the forward thingy. L

Would you please let us know which ones you know about and Laura, would you compile the list? Would be good information to have. I know that Duplin is getting some of their information on but think it is later deeds etc. Don't know if they plan on putting the earlier information online. Thanks, Laura - an excellent suggestion and we can put the results on Dobbers. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/QUB.2ACE/1060.1 Message Board Post: Not much but John Phillips md Louisa Allen had Marriage Bonds on 15 Feb 1793. John Jr was not on the 1790 census but may have been the other adult in his father's house hold. John Jr was dec by 1807. Louisa then married William Branton. There are several transactions between Louisa/Lee Branton and Phillips in the Cross Index. Based on various things we think that Louisa and John Phillips had children John S., Thomas A. and Emphraim/Euphena M. E.. who could have been a son or daughter but probably a daughter. In the Dobbs Cross Indexes there is a transactions in Book 23 - 1805 - 1810 - between William Branton (or) and Louisa Phillips (ee). This may have been a marriage agreement as Louisa was a very wealthy widow. Don't know if William and Louisa had children as the census records are not clear. Don't see him on the 1840 and he was dec by 1850 when Louisa was on the census as head of household. Martha
