He was born about 1717 in Bertie Co., N.C. to Wm. and Elizabeth Goodman Whitfield and was brother to Wm. Whitfield who married Rachel Bryan. Later Matthew patented land in New Hanover and Johnston Co.. He later moved to Cheraw District of S.C.. He married a Warren and I need to know What Warren he married. Thanks.
