    3. Freda, If I were you I would not abandon the data that you have on your particular William Ingram. I would just try to make sure which William Ingram you were describing. The William Ingram about which I was writing to Gail signed his Will 21 June 1771 in Johnston Co NC. In this Will, William Ingram named: wife, Elizabeth [Surname is unknown to me]; sons Shadrack, and Joseph; daughters Hester, Polly and Elizabeth. Unfortunately, Elizabeth Ross did not include Elizabeth as a daughter in her Abstract, but Elizabeth is named as a daughter in the Original which is housed in the NC Archives. Researcher basically agree that Shadrack and Elizabeth were children from a marriage to a daughter of John Lee, Sr. Esq because John Lee, Sr. actually left land to his grandson Shadrack Ingram. Some think that Elizabeth was also named in John Lee, Sr's Will but the Will is in bad shape and not all of it is legible. Neither Elizabeth nor Shadrack inherited much from William Ingram. Joseph Ingram inherited all the land and was named Executor. The reasons for this slight of Shadrack and Elizabeth has been debated. It should be noted that the other daughters: Polly and Hester only inherited one slave each, but Polly and Hester would have inherited the land if Joseph had died without an heir--further slight of Shadrack and Elizabeth. As to your William Ingram, he married Bethanah Lee. Apparently Bethanah was still alive 14 Apr 1835 when her father signed his Will but I do not have any information about the date of her death. Some Lee researchers say that Bethanah died before 1835, but this does not make sense to me in light of the fact that she was named in her father's Will and not noted as being deceased. I have not read the Original Will and it may be different than the abstract. Her husband, William Ingram, apparently died 25 Apr 1860 in Lowndes Co AL. This William Ingram was not born until 1790. Some Lee researchers put his birth as 14 Mar 1790 so there must be some Tombstone or Bible record. Bethanah, she is Bethany Ingram in her father's Will signed 14 Apr 1835, had already inherited from her father when he signed his Will. It might be worth for a record of a Deed of Gift to Bethanah from her father. Bethanah's father was John Lee, Sr, but not the John Lee, Sr. Esq. John Lee Sr. Esq was the grandson of John Lee Sr. Esq. and the son of Edward Lee and Mary [Allen??]. There is a Rev War Pension application for John Lee, Sr., the father of Bethana, but it was rejected. He was a wagoneer and delivered supplies to the Army. He had not been in the NC or Continental Lines, but he apparently was present during the Battle of Moore' Creek Bridge in 1776. Lee researchers state that Morning or Mourning Altman was the wife of John Lee, Sr. and therefore the mother of Bethanah. Their documentation for this marriage is a 25 Oct 1783 Johnston Co NC Marriage Bond. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ted and Freda Noble" <tnoble@mcn.org> To: <NCJOHNST-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, October 16, 2000 11:54 PM Subject: Re: [NCJOHNST] NC's Richard Ingram & Thomas Avera, Sr. Descendents > >Gail, Are you sure that you understood what I sent to you?
