Gail and Freda and any others: A few days back, I posted several E-mails to the NCJohnston Co List regarding what I knew about that had been published regarding (1) the possible marriage of Bethanah Lee to a William Ingram and (2) the documented marriage of Nancy Lee Johnson to a William Ingram in 1823. I was hoping that someone would respond with more documentation and/or corrections. But so far nothing. Please help. Here is how I put it together: Proven is: (1) Bethanah Lee did marry an Ingram and had died by 1835 with issue. This is documented in her father's 1835 Will where the heirs of Bethany Ingram had inherited already. (2) William Ingram did marry Nancy Lee Johnson in 1823. Documented by a Marriage Bond and in her father's 1823 Will. (3) Assumed to be proven is the birth and death dates of William Ingram, born 14 Mar 1790 and died 25 Apr 1860 Lowndes Co AL. These dates are so specific that they must be from a Tombstone, Family Bible, etc. but I do not know the source. (4) Assumed to be proven is the birth year and death date of Nancy Ingram, born 1796, and died April 12, 1856. Source of these specific dates are unknown to me. Also no place of death is given. Once again assume Thombston, Family Bible, etc. but do not know the source. Confusing: (1) Published data states that William Ingram and Nancy Lee Johnson Ingram were in Dallas Co AL by 1850 but William Ingram died in Lowndes Co AL. Likely they went first to Dallas Co AL and then to Lowndes Co AL. Would like to know for certain. Otherwise, it is possible that we have two different William Ingrams. Not Proven: (1) It is not proven by the data that I have that Bethanah Lee and Nancy Lee married the same Ingram, much less the same William Ingram. Is there some documentation of this? Not Known: (1) The ancestry of William Ingram who married Nancy Lee Johnson. Who is he? I hope that someone can help. I am particularly interested in William Ingram and/or the Ingram who married Bethanah Lee. Thoughts: Circumstantial evidence confirms that William Ingram married first Bethanah Lee and second Nancy Lee Johnson. This circumstancial evidence are the children and their dates of birth. I assume that a descendant(s) of William Ingram has reconstructed and documented in some way his children by two wives. The dates of the birth of his children support that the first three belonged to one wife and the remainder to Nancy Lee Johnson. If this is so then Bethanah Lee is a likely choice for William Ingram's first wife and the mother of his first three know children. I would very much like to know how the names and birth dates of William Ingram's children were reconstructed. What are the sources of this information? Any help would be appreciated.
