Does anyone on this list know what a white poll tax was and a black poll tax? My ancestor Nehemiah Toler in 1769 poll tax was paid for by his father at the same time his father paid a black tax for a Britt too. How old did you have to be to vote in 1769... how much was a poll tax ?? Thanks gail
