Joshua Lamb received one of the earliest land grants in 1744 in what later became Wilson County. Old Dobbs County BOOK 6 - April 1758 - April 1765 Joshua Lamb to Joel Dickerson pg 54 Few records have ever been found about this Joshua Lamb. According to this, he was in the area at least until 1758, at least 14 years. Jacob Lamb, Sr. settled in Old Dobbs County and his family eventually, after county boundary changes also ended up in Wilson County. He also is shown with a land transaction: Jacob Lamb to Thomas Briggs, pg 544.
