Hello all, I've just finished extracting and posting names of slaves and their owners from estate records and a bible in Chatham Co. http://www.rootsweb.com/~ncchatha/slaves.htm These records have been extremely difficult, for me, as a descendant of slave owners, to do. But, I felt that they needed to be available to any of African-American ancestry. Also, those of you that had ancestors who were slave owners may find that, this will be the only record, your folks are in. There are names of people from other counties and states. In some cases relationships are given in the sales. Use your 'find in page' feature in your browser to look for these folks. Hope it helps someone.
