NC Queries Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/NC/Johnston/1937 Surname: Corbett, Hocutt, Richardson ------------------------- Some more observations-In Texas,if you get some gas at a convenience store, you go inside and all the customers form a nice neat line. >From what I saw in the rest of the South,in every other state, customers bum rush the counter and form in a semi-circle around the register. They won't say anything if you step up and reclaim your spot, but if you don't,they'll sure stay in front of you and do their transaction, even though you were there first!! And everybody picks through their change,to give correct change. In Texas,we give the cashier a bill that is larger than the purchase price, and let them make change. After all,it is their job,and they are quicker at it than we are. All across the Deep South,if you order tea,it WILL be loaded down with sugar.Nobody asks if you want sweetened or unsweetened,as they do here. When you get grits for breakfast in Texas,it is in a small bowl.In the rest of the South, the bowl is huge. I was told more than once that meat comes off a pig.Period.We eat a lot of pork, too, but beef is also a staple. The South is beautiful.Thank God we are fortunate to live here.
