Alsey was born on February 23, 1797 in either Wake, Johnston, or a surrounding county of North Carolina. Alsey an Drusilla were married on April, 15, 1820 in Johnston County. They had six children, one of whom was Henry. Alsey died on December 20, 1837. Drusilla died January 2o, 1885. The six children are as follows: * Elbert Austin b. 1/27/1824 d. 4/18/1865 m. 10/8/1846 to Kiddie Barnes. * James Thomas Austin b. 11/9/1826 d. 3/26/1864 m.11/18/1849 to Patience Ann Barnes (Kiddie's sister) * Caroline Austin b. 3/3/1829 d. 25/25/1907 m. 5/14/1868 to William Powell * Henry Austin b. 9/2/1831 d. 2/21/1907 Buried in the Austin Family Cemetery m. 12/14/1885 to Sophia Mitchener who was born on 1/10/1832 and died 6/4/1875 Henry then married her sister Lenora Mitchener on 3/15/1876. When Henry died, he had 3 sons and 3 daughters:Prof. Elbert Austin, Mr. L.F. Austin, Mr. Cleon Austin, Mrs. Vick Aaustin, Mrs. H.M. Barbour, and Mrs. J.T. Vinson. * Joseph Austin b. 6/7/1834 d. 7/19/1918 m. 10/14/1868 to Sarah Young * Mary Drusilla Austin b. 2/3/1838 d. 2/20/1909 Never married Alsey Austin was my g-g-grandmother's g-grandfather.
